How to chant

The ADYA MAHAKALI SAHASRANAMA is traditionally recited at night, seated facing south (the direction of Dakṣiṇa Kālī), after bath and prāṇāyāma, with a red or ghee lamp lit before the Mother. Begin with the ṛṣyādi-nyāsa and dhyāna, then chant the thousand and eight names beginning with Oṃ krīṃ Kālyai namaḥ. The English meanings are aids to bhāva; the fruit lies in surrender to the Mother.
